Buckethead (nombre real Brian Carroll) es un guitarrista virtuoso y compositor avant-garde. Nacido en los Estados Unidos aparentemente en el año 1969 se desconoce su verdadera biografía antes de entrar al negocio musical. Su ficticia biografía relata que fue criado por pollos, tal como se menciona en varios de sus temas como "Chicken".

Su trabajo musical ha abarcado todo tipo de géneros como el Thrash metal, funk, jazz ambient, death metal o música minimalista.

Fue alumno durante casi un año del virtuoso Paul Gilbert el cual influenció de manera notable su fraseo rápido de su técnica shred. Entre otras influencias puede citar Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani, Jennifer Batten, Shawn Lane y Steve Vai.

Ha colaborado y participado con diversos artistas: Les Claypool, Viggo Mortensen, Tony Williams, Bootsy Collins, Serj Tankian (cantante de System of a Down), Mike Patton y Dj Flare(Crearon el trio Moonraker), Daron Malakian (guitarrista de System of a Down), y Guns N Roses, para la grabación de Chinesse Democracy junto a ellos se presentó en los Mtv Music Awards y el Festival Rock in Rio.
