► Biografía de Aaliyah

Aaliyah Dana Haughton (16 de enero de 1979 – † 25 de agosto de 2001), nació en el barrio del Bronx, Nueva York, pero pronto se trasladó con su familia a la ciudad de Detroit. Allí, Aaliyah realizó trabajos como modelo y cantante, consiguiendo grabar su primer disco de R&B a la edad de 15 años.

Al mismo tiempo estudiaba danza en la Performing Arts High School de Detroit. Su mentor en el campo musical fue el productor, cantante y compositor R. Kelly, con quien mantuvo un romance e incluso se casó en secreto en 1994. Posteriormente y al cabo de unos meses, el matrimonio fue anulado.

En el cine debutó junto a Jet Li con la película de artes marciales "Romeo debe morir" (2000). También intervino como cantante o aportando canciones para títulos como "Anastasia" y "Doctor Dolittle".

El 25 de agosto del 2001, cuando Aaliyah había acabado de filmar la adaptación de la novela de Anne Rice "La reina de los condenados" y había comenzado el rodaje de "The Matrix reloaded", lo que le auguraba un buen porvenir en el mundo del cine, Aaliyah falleció en un accidente de aviación en las Bahamas, donde había acudido a grabar el videoclip para la canción "Rock the boat"
